# Delete a refund (/api/refunds/delete-refund)

`DELETE https://api.comecero.com/api/v1/refunds/{refund_id}`

Removes a chargeback or record-only refund that was entered by mistake. Only works for a refund with `is_chargeback` or `record_only` set, on a gateway that belongs to your account; any other refund gets `422`. No money moves: a refund that really sent money back cannot be deleted. The refund is removed from reports and the `refund:deleted` event fires. Needs a secret or trusted token. Limited tokens get `403`.

## Parameters

- `refund_id` (path, required): The refund id.

Responses: 204, 401, 403, 404, 422, 500.
